A Quick Guide to the Removal of Skin Tags on the Bikini Line

Skin tags may be harmless, but they can still be embarrassing.  They can appear anywhere on your body, and they can be small or large. When the weather is warm enough to go to the beach, of course, you want to wear a bathing suit and enjoy the fun. If you have skin tags on your bikini line, you may find it embarrassing.  The good news is that you can easily get rid of skin tags, and enjoy your time in the sun.

Skin tags are extra pieces of skin. In medical terms, they are called acrochordons. They often grow where there is friction between folds of skin, or where clothing rubs against the area frequently. While some people choose to cut them off with a scalpel, it’s not always the best idea. They can bleed a lot, and it’s likely to cause scarring.

In this article, we will talk about ways to safely remove a skin tag without pain or bleeding. The procedure can be easily performed at home, even on a sensitive area of your body, like your bikini line.

One method that we strongly recommend is the TagBand skin tag removal device. It works quickly and safely, so you could be free from skin tags in just 7 to 10 days.

Why Do Skin Tags Grow on the Bikini Line?

No one can say for sure what causes skin tags to grow where they do, but usually, it’s because of friction. When skin tags appear on the bikini line, they can easily be confused with ingrown hairs.

How can you tell the difference?  A skin tag appears on the end of a thin stalk, so it’s raised above the skin. Whereas, an ingrown hair is usually just a bump that’s underneath the skin. Look at a few different pictures, and you’ll quickly be able to tell the two skin conditions apart.

Skin tags can be painful due to the underwear rubbing. Sometimes, if they’re small, they can get cut off when shaving your legs or bikini zone. All women want a hair-free bikini line, but the hair-removal process can be a source of irritation.

It’s common to get skin tags when you’ve gained weight. It doesn’t matter if it’s due to dietary excesses or pregnancy, although it’s believed that hormonal fluctuations could also play a part. There will be more skin folds near the bikini line, which means more friction.

During treatment, you may want to switch to loose-fitting underwear, just until the skin tag is gone. This will reduce the level of irritation, and allow your preferred skin tag removal method to work better.

Going to a Doctor for Skin Tags on Your Bikini Line

Dermatologists have different ways of removing skin tags, but they can be expensive. Health insurance companies won’t cover the cost of removal because it’s considered to be a cosmetic and not a health condition.

Doctors often use the same treatments as us, but some people prefer to utilize the experience and know-how of a professional. They feel that it’s safer, but the process isn’t that difficult to perform on your own.

To treat skin tags on the bikini line, dermatologists use different techniques. Most of the treatments employed by doctors can be done at home, saving you a lot of money. The treatments that we will be covering don’t cost that much, and won’t cause any pain.

Using Natural Remedies

The use of natural remedies has become popular in recent years. This is because they cause no pain and there’s no bleeding.

One 100% natural treatment that we do like is tea tree oil for skin tags. It is an essential oil, which means that it has natural medicinal properties. It has been used for centuries by people all around the world and treats many different ailments.

To get results with Apothecary tea tree oil, you’ll need to apply it 3 times a day for 3 to 6 weeks. It works by drying out the area so that the skin tags are unable to oxygenate.

It’s a particularly good option if you have a small cluster of skin tags. These can be difficult to target with other over-the-counter solutions.

Fast Removal Methods

Sometimes doctors use a process called Ligation, which is essentially tying a knot around the skin tag, depriving it of oxygenated blood.  Some people do this themselves with dental floss or string, but it can sting a little because the area is quite sensitive.

The good news is that there is a device, called the TagBand, that will do the same thing but in a sterile way.  It is simply a tight band that you put around the skin tag with an easy-to-use tool. Just leave the band in place until the skin tag falls off on its own. To learn more about getting rid of a skin tag in a week, read our TagBand review.

You can also freeze off skin tags. While a dermatologist often performs this procedure with liquid nitrogen, you can perform a variation of the treatment with Compound W Freeze. Don’t be put off by the name of the product. While it’s more commonly used for the treatment of warts, it can also be used for removing skin tags. We don’t recommend it if your skin tags are really close to your genital region, or if the area is sore.

As mentioned above, skin tags are not dangerous and nor are they a sign of cancer. Some people are afraid that they are a form of skin cancer, but this isn’t the case. They are simply extra pieces of skin that won’t do you any harm.

When you have skin tags on your bikini line, you may want to get rid of them before the warm weather so that you can go the beach or enjoy a dip in the pool. You may just want to improve the appearance of your body so that you feel confident and look good for your partner.

If you have a few skin tags, you can remove them individually with the TagBand. The process typically takes between 7 and 10 days, so it’s pretty quick. If you have a small group of skin tags, it’ll be easier to treat them with Apothecary tea tree oil. It’s a natural treatment, but most people will start to see results within 3 to 6 weeks. Much depends on how long you have available, the number of skin tags, and your personal preferences.
